Supreme Choice

Wow, that was quick! Pres. Obama gets to make a his first Supreme Court nomination, but I am actually not excited. Justice Souter was one of the most liberal members of the Court, therefore this replacement CANNOT move the court more to the left than it already is. Not too comforting.

This pick is dangerous, because there is little to gain and a lot to loose. To prove this, lets look at the Souter appointment during the first Bush Admin. Souter was known as a "stealth" justice, because he had little paper trail. Bush I, a known conservative, obviously wanted to move the Court farther to right, and Souter was his choice. As we learned, he was obviously was wrong. Bush thought he was getting a conservation and didn't.

This could happen with Pres. Obama. And with little chance to move the Court more left, the odds are that the Court could move more right with an incorrect appointment. Scary.
